This Web-site is our way of sharing our experiences and memories with all the first class broadcasters that have worked at WDVH/WLUS over the years.  Alumni have scattered all over the world, as far away from Gainesville as Hong Kong, but are able to connect with us via email and the World Wide Web.

WDVH AM radio was first licensed by the FCC to operate on 980 KHz with 5,000 watts daytime (only) with a non-directional antenna in October of 1954 in Gainesville, Florida.  The 1973 edition of the Broadcasting Yearbook lists the owner as DAE Broadcasting Co. (Ray Danner and Larry Edwards) which acquired the station 12/22/69.  The format was C&W at that time.  Larry Edwards was the General Manager, Ferrell Asbell was Station Manager and Commercial Manager, Jim Brand was Program and Music Director, Gary Nelson was News Director and Bob Cunningham was listed as the Chief Engineer (although we all know that George Fogle was the real CE). The station changed call letters to WLUS "US98" and adopted a "standards" nostalgia music format in August of 1996.
